The Driving Precision Aptitude Test is an aptitude test that aims to detect any defect by scientifically measuring individual personality, psychological, physiological and behavioral characteristics associated with TAP (traffic accident proneness). The purpose of the test is to prevent traffic accidents by detecting defects in the driver's aptitude and providing corrective measures and instructions.
Ground of Implementation
Mandatory Test: for commercial drivers
- Related laws: Article 26 of the Act of Passenger Vehicle Transportation Industry and Article 9 of the Act of Truck Transportation Industry
- Major contents: Drivers who engage in the transportation industry are required to meet the qualification requirements such as age and the driving career requirements and satisfy standards of the driving precision aptitude test.
- Test Classification and Subject
| Classification | Subject |
|---|---|
| Initial Test | Persons are seeking to be employed as a commercial driver for the first time |
| Special Test |
Among the drivers employed as commercial drivers, - anyone who has caused higher than severe injury - anyone whose accumulated scores, which are calculated according to annual administrative measures, are higher than 81 points. - anyone who is requested to take a test by his/her employer concerning about his/her driving safety. |

Test Efficiency
Traffic Accidents Prevention
- Prediction of traffic accidents: 11.9%(Psychology Institute in Seoul National University 2006.12)
Decrease of social costs
- Annually traffic accident costs of about 112 billion KRW decreases thanks to prevention of traffic accidents.
- From the results of internal study conducted by a transportation company (The Korean Express Co., Ltd), the result of which is an annual savings of over 5 billion KRW.
